INTRODUCTION

SACE Stage 2 students have the opportunity to continue the pathway they began in Stage 1. The three pathways are:

University Pathway - which leads to future studies at Tertiary Institutions like University or post school TAFE.

Vocational Pathway - which enables students to undertake employment related subjects and VET certified courses.

Non University and Non VET Pathway - which enables students to complete SACE.

Students undertaking a University Pathway need to choose and successfully complete four 20 credit Tertiary Admissions Subjects (TAS) subjects (80 credits) plus the Research Project B (10 credits) for a total of 90 credits to be eligible for an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). They must also have successfully completed all compulsory requirements of the SACE. The Research Project B is completed in Year 11. All SACE patterns will be checked at the course counselling interview.
Please Note:
  • Science and Mathematics Academy at Flinders (SMAF) courses are delivered at Flinders University
  • Extension Studies at Flinders University: Stage 2 students, not involved in SMAF, may apply to undertake ONE subject at Flinders University, which will count as both a TAS Stage 2 subject and be accredited as a First Year University subject. Further details available at Extension Studies Flinders University

Students undertaking a Vocational Pathway initially need to choose three Stage 2, 20 credit subjects plus 20 more credits from either Stage 1 or Stage 2. Once the chosen VET Certificate course has been confirmed, Mr Hoffman will re-counsel students into the appropriate number of subjects. The number of nominal hours/modules undertaken in your chosen Certificate will determine the appropriate number of subjects needed to complete SACE. All concerns will be addressed at the Course Counselling interview.

Students undertaking the Non University and Non VET Pathway need to choose 80 credits which includes three Stage 2, 20 credit subjects PLUS 20 more credits from either Stage 1 or Stage 2. This Pathway enables students to complete SACE, assuming all compulsory requirements are met. All SACE patterns will be checked at the course counselling interview.
